Unless homeowners use an interior designer, lighting is often overlooked in their design plan. That’s a design mistake because lighting makes a huge impact on a room, not just in the way it looks, but the way it functions as well. Not only will you want your lighting to work optimally for you, but it is a strong selling point when you are staging your home for sale in the future.
It’s important to determine which type of lighting you need for your room so that it will function well for you. For example, in your kitchen you will want general lighting so that the overall room is well lit, but you will also need task lighting in your work space. The bathroom will need to be well lit in addition to special attention in the mirror area where you need the right light fixtures for applying makeup. Although you will want your dining area lit with general lighting, you will probably want a good dimmer system to enjoy the space for fine dining with a more romantic light!
